Easter is a fifty-day season that is at the heart of the Christian Year beginning with the Great Vigil of Easter on the Evening of Holy Saturday and continuing through to the day of Pentecost. It is a time when we remember and celebrate with great joy Lord’s passage from death to life and his triumph over the power of death, hell and sin by which he redeemed, and sanctified all of creation. We celebrate the new and abundant life which we received in Holy Baptism, and we look forward to the fullness of Resurrection life which will be ushered in on the last great day.
