General Convention 2024

This trip is an opportunity for the youth of The Diocese of West Missouri to experience the inner workings of church governance at the global level with visits to both houses of General Convention, witness the election of the 29th Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church, connect with Episcopalians from around the world and explore the city of Louisville.

The General Convention is the governing body of The Episcopal Church and its ultimate authority outside of Holy Scripture. Every three years it meets as a bicameral legislature that includes the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops, composed of deputies and bishops from each diocese. By some accounts the General Convention of the Episcopal Church is the largest legislative body in the world. This year the 81st General Convention will be meeting in Louisville, Kentucky.
